The University of Florida is a public, land-grant research university in Gainesville, Florida. It is the senior member of the State University System of the state. The University of Florida has more than 1,000 student organizations. It is the largest student-run university in the country, with four councils and more than 66 chapters. The athletics department has 21 sports teams called the Florida Gators, and twenty teams in the Southeastern Conference. More than one hundred academic All-SEC honorees have been honored by the university’s athletic department. Fans are referred to as “Rowdy Reptiles” and are among the best in the nation.
